More on tree & plant removal

Sometimes the right garden decision is not another prune. It is removing a plant that has outgrown the space, become unsafe, or simply reached the end of its life. JJ removes small trees, oversized shrubs and tired hedges safely, cleanly and without turning your yard into a worksite for three days.

Most removals in the Eastern Suburbs are practical jobs: an old photinia hedge that has gone woody and sparse, a pittosporum planted too close to the fence line, a dead ornamental tree leaning over a driveway, or a row of shrubs that block winter sun into the house. JJ cuts in stages, controls each branch as it comes down, and clears as he works so the site stays tidy and safe.

For very large trees or technical removals near power lines, JJ refers directly to a licensed arborist. That is non-negotiable and it keeps everyone safe. For all the smaller removals, JJ handles the full job including loading and disposal so you are not left with a pile of branches and nowhere to put them.

How JJ does it

  1. 1

    Scope and safety check

Assess tree/shrub size, lean, access and proximity to fences, sheds or power lines before any cutting starts.

  2. 2

    Sectional removal

Remove from top down in controlled sections so nothing drops where it should not.

  3. 3

    Stump tidy (if requested)

Low stump cut or stump removal by arrangement depending on access and species.

  4. 4

    Clear and dispose

All branches, trunk sections and green waste loaded and taken away the same day.

Tree & Plant Removal — common questions

  • Do I need a council permit to remove a tree?

Often yes. Most Eastern Suburbs councils protect trees above a certain height or trunk circumference, and some have overlays covering whole streets. Check with your council before booking — JJ will not remove a protected tree without a permit.
  • How big a tree can you take out?

Small trees, shrubs and stumps within safe reach from the ground. Large trees, anything near power lines and anything requiring climbing or a crane is arborist work, and JJ will tell you so rather than take the job.
  • Is the stump removed as well?

Small stumps are dug out as part of the job. Larger stumps need grinding, which is quoted separately so you can decide whether it is worth doing.
