Most insurance claims for water damage in Melbourne homes start with a blocked gutter. A single afternoon of heavy rain is enough to send overflow back under the eaves, into the wall cavity and onto the ceiling. By the time you see the stain, the damage is already in the four-figure range. JJ clears gutters before that happens — twice a year for clients with deciduous trees, once a year for everyone else.

JJ's gutter clean is hands-on. Debris is lifted out by hand and bagged on the spot, not blown back into the garden where it just makes its way to the gutter again. Downpipes get a check at the top entry to make sure water can get away properly. If a downpipe is blocked, JJ will flush it and tell you straight if it needs more work than that.

The right time to book is late autumn, after the worst of the leaf drop, and again in early spring before the storm season hits. Suburbs like Box Hill, Mitcham, Blackburn and Vermont have a lot of mature deciduous trees, so most homes there benefit from twice-a-year gutter cleans. Houses with metal roofs and no trees nearby may only need a once-a-year visit.
